Here are my excludes:
-apztlvx --exclude="private/tmp/*"
--exclude="Users/kevin/Library/Caches/*" --exclude="private/var/run/*"
--exclude="Library/Google/Google Desktop/Index/*"
--exclude="Library/Application Support/LANDesk/*"
--exclude="Library/Caches/*" --exclude="private/tmp/*"
--exclude="usr/local/vscanx/*" --exclude=".fseventsd/*"
--exclude=".Spotlight-V100/*" --exclude="Library/Logs/CrashReporter/*"
--exclude="/Users/kevin/Library/Application Support/Google/Google
Desktop/Index/*" --exclude="/proc/*" --exclude="/dev/*"
--exclude="/tmp/*" --stats --delete
but keep in mind this is a recovery backup and not a user files backup.
