[Leaplist] Audio issues recently appeared on Fedora

So my Fedora 12 desktop has recently developed an audio problem that's
driving me nuts... This problem just started a couple weeks ago, probably
in response to some recent update. (it has not always been like this)

First, depending on how I fiddle the output device, it likes to make this
continual popping/crackling noise (like some phantom input channel is
cranked up), which I can make go away if I switch from the "Analog Output"
port to the "Analog Headphones" port (in the PulseAudio volume control
app). Second, the bass is *way* out of whack.

Sound card is an SB Audigy of some sort

P.S. Yes, I have fiddled extensively with every friggin mixer slider I
could find. The issue isn't there (or obvious there) as far as I can
tell.
P.P.S. I have a Windows 7 box that works just fine with the same speakers.
P.P.P.S. This is "not" the issue described in the Fedora FAQ about some
drive controller and sleep mode.
