Anyone with 2.5"/3.5" SATA/SAS drives should have one of these:

It allows one to read "bare" (trayless) 2.5"/3.5" SATA/SAS drives
with an USB connection.  As a bonus, there is also a direct eSATA
option.  That's usually another $10-15 there.

P.s.  I have these exact StarTech versions, sans the eSATA port.
As always, I don't trust eSATA, but for a temporary connection, it
might work fine with your systems.  I bought one and will try it
with the built-in eSATA port on my 1.5 year-old Gateway P-7811FX.
