I would just like to throw in here that there is indeed a distinction
to be made with the following terms:
1. reconditioned
2. refurbished (recertified)
3. remanufactured
I know I wrote at length about this somewhere (been a couple years),
so I will just make a quick summary:
1. reconditioned-least amount of work done.
eg. store returns that get rudimentary testing (appear working, so
they box back up and sell..or clean the gunk off of and sell)
2. refurbished - tweak the obvious problems. replace missing buttons,
repair only what is defective
eg. my company refurbished hundreds of game consoles
weekly...replaced bad optical pickups, reflashed BIOS, minor soldering
3. remanufactured - complete tear down and rebuild --even if it
worked. all consumables (seals, gaskets, lube..) is replaced.
Usually all the components that wear down get replaced.
eg. remanufactured alternator - torn down, new bearings installed,
new windings (same old housing and shaft)
oftentimes remanufactured also carries a warranty with it.

When a government is dependent upon bankers for money, they and not
the leaders of the government control the situation, since the hand
that gives is above the hand that takes Money has no motherland;
financiers are without patriotism and without decency; their sole
object is gain. Napoleon Bonaparte, 1815
