Couldn't agree more. It's lost its allure. I mostly despise opening systems
now. It means getting cut, always. Almost means about a 33% chance I damage
or destroy something expensive, which sucks. Nearly always means my wallet is
lighter having bought some hardware in the first place!
Still limping along on my old socket 754 with a Sempron 2800+. Like you, my
laptop is what I use now, anyway. I sometimes hit up X on my old box with NX
though. NX is great.
Now that I think, I already have the RAM, PSU, and case, but I don't have much
reason to spend the $150 or so on the mainboard and CPU. Plus, I rather like
my Ti4200 with dual head support in the AGP slot of the current box. Thing is
useful forever!
