I have never had a problem with a 6xxx series 3Ware card but then I only
ever saw two of them. One even survived me accidentally running a direct
short through the LED pins that melted the entire length of the LED wires
(about 2 feet).

I have never seen a problem with a 7xxx series 3Ware card and I have used
probably around 20 of them at work.

I have never seen a problem with an 8xxx series 3Ware card and I have used
at least 50 of them at work and one at home.

I have never seen a problem with a 9xxx series (yes I know 9xxx covers
more than one series) card either. I have used somewhere around 10 of
those at work.

The worst I have to say about 3Ware is that their port number labeling is
not always consistent.

However, after saying all that I still prefer Areca RAID controllers over
3Ware even though I have only used one of them.
