[Leaplist] 3Ware AWOL

I find 3Ware cards about the most difficult to get working properly.
I've had several 6xxx cards now that seem to go home to mommy on a soft
or hard reboot. Sometimes they eventually wake up and the system boots.
As of yet I haven't figured out a way to reliably solve the issue.
Usually I play music PCI slots, as I've had that assist when 3Ware
fights a SCSI controller for boot BIOS supremacy. Musical slots is the
last refuge of the hopeless, though.
Yeah, I know it's 2009 and SATA and PCIe is calling. You go with the
hardware you have, not what you might wish for or plan to have at a
later date...
I suppose I have to be content to power cycle when I need to reboot.
Two different 6410s produce this behavior. I've also seen it in a
7500-4 on another box which never used to do it before.
With drives so large, next time I buy drives (I've had these 3-5 years
now) I'll be doing SATA and RAID 1 with whatever SATA controller the
mainboard ships with. Enough expansion cards.
