[Leaplist] re: ubuntu 8.04 install on HP laptop

hello to the group,

i 'm trying to install ubuntu 8.04 on a HP laptop model # dv5-1119r. i'm trying install inside windows to test it first. the laptop is running vista home premium 64 bit os. when i go to the start up screen and choose ubuntu it starts loading and when the splash screen starts with the ubuntu logo, there is a bar going back and forth, kind of like ping pong. thats as far as it gets. no more activity on the hard drive to keep loading the system. any help out there? by the way this program loaded fine on a old hp desktop and works fine.
