Many of us arrived at the Install Fest on Saturday, Sept 5, 2009, at or
after noon, and immediately went to work fixing the school network that
was damaged with capacitor plague in three units, and power wall wart
failure on the internet link to the highschool and three classrooms in
building B.
Phil brought a replacement PSU wall wart, and fixed the network
connection to Bldg. B, HS and 3 classrooms.
Thanks to Jason, got WINE running on the pre-K class room computers, and
upgraded several units to Linux Mint 7.
Three of us swapped out two bad Compaq Evo 500 units in the Pre-K classroom.
Still to be resolved is three laptops, that were running Windoze, that
have wifi, and refuse to connect the browsers, (Firefox, IE6 and, IE8),
Option looks like they need to be totally converted to Linux Mint 7?
I am posting all of this here on Leaplist even though it will be on
School list, too, because of the need for a bit of wisdom to find the
best solution, which MIGHT include "fixing" windoze, (quickest?), though
Linux Mint 7 in Live found all the wifi and sound resources just fine on
those Dell laptops...
Ideas via the School List, here, or in my email, and any coordination or
help are very welcome!
Thanks to all for your continued dedication on this project!
I am spending my days at the school, in support
