Okay, it's official!
0% of people at the InstallFest had nothing negative to say about my 2.5
year-old, 24" LCD monitor running at 1280x800, which was a 3:2 size
reduction from its native 1920x1200 resolution.
Of course, other than Jason Boxman, nobody showed up. But that's
besides the point. I win! Win what? Oh, what that the point? ;)
More seriously now ...
I stick my the same, original recommendation as posted and reposted 4
weeks ago that really says what I needs to on its own:
http://lists.leap-cf.org/pipermail/leaplist/2009-August/007099.html
"As always, read up on reviews of _exact_model_ before buying.
My #1 recommendation: Costco.COM
Costco allows you to buy and return with a full refund within 90 days.
This includes refunding any shipping if you bought on-line.
It's how I have bought and tried my LCDs over the years."
http://lists.leap-cf.org/pipermail/leaplist/2009-August/007168.html
"A panel that:
- Gives you 94dpi at the full 1920x1200 at 16:10 aspect
- Gives you the option of 20.5" at perfect 1:1, 1600x1200 in 4:3
aspect
- Gives you a whopping 63dpi at solid 3:2, 1280x800 at 16:10
aspect
- And all for well under $200, with "try with no obligation"
options at Costco"
Now we've had a lot of tangents, discussion, general dissin's, piss'ns
and other "fun" over the weeks.
Furthermore, I heeded the recommendation Steve made here, one that I,
myself as thinking at the same time he posted it ...
http://lists.leap-cf.org/pipermail/leaplist/2009-August/007172.html
Well, other than some discussions with Jason Boxman, no one showed up to
say otherwise. So it's been "bark"-by-proxy (I'd use a 5-letter word,
but Phil's list filters catch it ;), with no results and no help for
people many times.
My experiences and attempts are there for people to discard or utilize
as they see fit. Last and final post on this matter, because there's
really nothing more to discuss, and it's clear some people just wanted
to state what doesn't apply at all to a 24" LCD at 1920x1200.
It resizes to 1280x800 and looks excellent, with a very big DPI. ;)
