Windows is a mess of non-standards, inconsistency and other non-sense
that the UNIX world as a whole can maybe equal. In the GNU/Linux
world, Microsoft "standards" seem like a ball of string.

But at least the base "cacls" command has remained largely unchanged
over time. The implementations in the GUI and between NT versions may
be inconsistent as heck, and often broken at times, but at least the "cacls"
command offers an overriding option that is a known quantity.

Now if Microsoft could just create a CLI standard like GNU, I'd be happy.
Unfortunately they haven't for seventeen (17) years of NT, and that's a lot
of years to not have one compared to GNU.

Large mbox files suck over NFS and is even worse over SMB.

NFS v4 helps with its stateful overhead (great for large, open files,
horrendous for lots of small files and/or lots of meta-data operations),
but IMAP is still a crapload better.
