The "MiFi" product will do what you need. I've used Sprint and
Verizon's version of this and it works great. They say no more than 5
simultaneous 802.11g connections to it, but I've never really tested
that limit.
The roll-your-own EVDO router was done at the Hamcations because the
MiFi wasn't available at the time. You could still do this if you
have a USB or PC Card EVDO modem that works on Linux, a PC to use as a
router, a wireless access point and a network switch or hub.
