Not the first account I've heard of a switch to OpenSolaris for access to ZFS.  
I haven't seriously considered making the switch yet, but perhaps one day I 
will.

I just looked at Backula.  Version 3 just came out, and it looks interesting.  
It did last time I looked, too, but it's also quite complicated.  The native 
Windows support for backups is rather nice, though.  I have Windows hosts I 
would probably backup if it were reasonably possible with `rsync`, but it's 
too much of a hassle.  (That and no critical files should be on the physical 
Windows desktop disks.)

I'm going to have a couple VirtualBox VMs I'll need to integrate into my 
rotation somehow.  Probably be done the same as hardware hosts.
