this is on my own child session on my server, running centos 5, using
the original kernel which centos 5.2 installed:
Linux phineas.jms1.net 2.6.18-8.1.15.el5xen #1 SMP Mon Oct 22 09:33:52
EDT 2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
it's a bit out of date because i'm very leery about doing kernel
updates on a xen machine, parent *or* child session. i want to
physically go down to the server and do the upgrades in person rather
than doing it via ssh and risk the machine becoming non-booting, and i
haven't really had the time to run down there and do it.
this on the linux server at my house, also running centos 5, but with
the kernel updated to the most recent version:
Linux hydra.internal 2.6.18-128.1.6.el5 #1 SMP Wed Apr 1 09:19:18 EDT
2009 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
i know centos copies what redhat enterprise is doing. it looks like
RHEL5/centos5 is using a 2.6.18 kernel, and any bug fixes and security
fixes are being done as patches rather than as new versions of the
kernel.
