the message, and the function name "SRCH_SVC_getEngineByAlias",
suggest that a search engine plug-in is involved.
at the top right of the browser window is a text entry field where you
can do searches without having to manually visit "www.google.com" (or
whatever) first. at the left end of that window is a drop-list of
search engines, which normally has google and a few others (yahoo,
ask.com, etc.) on it, as well as an option to edit the list of search
engines. when you choose one of these search engines, anything you
search for using that field will be processed through that particular
search engine (so if you select google, anything you type in there
will be searched using google.)
there is also a mechanism which allows a web site to install a new
search engine plug-in to your browser. i say "plug-in" but it's really
just a label, a set of settings, and possibly an icon. my own list is
very short- google and wikipedia. (i think it had yahoo and a few
others pre-loaded when i installed firefox, but i removed them because
i don't really need them, and because i don't trust yahoo at all.)
a while back i wrote this web page, explaining how the mechanism
works. and as an example on the page, i wrote a search plug-in which
looks up call signs on QRZ.com and shows you the results without
having to visit the front page of the site first.

i suspect that if you look at the list of search engines, you'll find
one which is somehow associated with this "caseyresearch.com" site. my
suggestion is that you go into "manage search engines..." window,
remove that one, and see if that doesn't stop the window from popping
up.

explain what "bring up something" means. be more detailed. does that
mean you're trying to type a URL into the location field, or type a
search term into the search entry field (again, the smaller entry box
to the right of the location field), selecting a bookmark, clicking a
link on an existing page, or any/all of the above?
