[Leaplist] Hackfest Challenge: Scan to PDF

Gang,

I thought I'd post about the challenge I plan to bring to the Hackfest 
in case someone has some ideas (or software) to bring:

Subject: Scan to PDF

Equipment: HP OfficeJet d135 All-in-One
with duplexing document feeder
connects only through USB (for now)

Debian Linux box w/sufficient speed & RAM

Goal: Scan 2-sided originals into a PDF file, unattended
Lineart mode, 300 dpi

To date: gscan2pdf works well on a networked HP 2610 AIO, but that 
scanner has no doc feeder. The program does not recognize the USB HP 
d135 at all.

My guess: Driver issues

Any suggestions, now or at the Hackfest will be appreciated.
