[Leaplist] MMS

Gentlemen,

 lately am noticing a protocol MMS (Microsoft Media Server)associated with many different videos  on the Net. Is there a Linux equivalent I can use to view these videos? I use Debian Lenny on my desktop and Ubuntu 9.04 on my laptop.
