I am thankful that there is good info out there, and you know I avoid
Microsoft (NT = No Takeoff) for the reason that I help total noobs get
started in home computing, and/or using the computer to do their school
work.
Whenever they have used Microsoft Windows on their systems, (some home
school programs are built to run on it, and NOT on Linux!) I have
activated Glary Utilities for registry cleaning, and AVG for the
Anti-Virus, and automatic Microsoft Updates.
Everyone in the past three years has come back with might infections,
typically, of 2 to 51 Trojans or Worms, plus as many as 578 Microsoft
Virus i9nfections!
I councel them and help with their home school networks, but, the
problems seem to occur repeatedly.
I do not think it is any lack of comprehension on their part. They do
run Linux on other systems, and have absolutely no trouble on those
machines!
The issues that Microsoft Virus causes actually creates a huge amount of
stress and frustration, for users.
Nancy now has two systems, with LCD monitors next to each other on the
desk, with Ubuntu on one, XP Pro on the other.. She does the tech.
manuals for government agencies on one, but, noticed that Ubuntu was
extremely fast, in doing email, authoring, many apps.
Also, she noticed the higher maintenance necessary to make apps. on XP
Pro actually work, especially after any of the Microsoft Updates, that
sometimes cause thrid party quthored software to crash. She has also
had the "dog eat the homework", and suffered failures of hard drives!
You might remember that I tracked hard drive failures in systems I
serviced that ran Microsoft Windows vs. GNU/Linux XWiondows, from
2004 to 2007 and announced that I saw that 4 Microsoft Windows systems
seemed to suffer an in-ordinate amount of early failures of hard drives
vs. the dozen Linux and 4 MacIntosh systems, all using IDE drives.
RMA of Seagate, Maxtor, and Western Digital drives in the Microsoft
systems were almost 50% in the first two years!
I had one failure of one drive in an external 500GB WD drive, hooked up
to a Linux system, in the first year, but, it was originally formated as
FAT32. The total failure, and loss of my entire repository of ISOs, and
125GB of music was a terrible setback...
I maintain the belief that FAT32 formatted drives have early failures.
Another way that Miicrosoft costs everyone too much money, time, and
energy!
Microsoft is "professionally designed, and built by experts", as was the
Titanic!
Linux is built by amateurs who have a passion for working out the bugs.
Noah's Ark was built by amateurs.
I feel much more secure in trusting Noah's Ark.
One more point: Microsoft's monopoly that has controlled the politics
and vision of the world in restrictive powers of failure, and closed
source that prevents innovation by free people, has retarded the growth
of nations.
Microsoft (and, ACT, BSA, and their other political lobbyist
organizations) doesn't simply suck, it is a tyrannical modus that
prevents free expression!

Microsoft, in monopoly bullying?
