[Leaplist] Download problem

Gentlemen,

I use Ubuntu  8.04 server edition on my 32 bit server. I am getting a message I have an update linux-image-2.6.24-24-server for linux kernel image for version 2.6.24-24on x86/x86_64 available for download.

when I try to download and install just to get rid of the error message,  E: /var/cache/apt/archives/linux-image-2.6.24-24-server_2.6.24-24.55_i386.deb: corrupted filesystem tarfile - corrupted package archive"

I have no clue what it is all about. Your help will be appreciated.
