I'm not trying to dis the competition, but I would urge caution if you
have anything but a very simple return.
I work at H&R Block, and the tax situation this year is very messy. That
"Stimulus Payment" has made some returns very tricky and is causing a
lot of IRS rejects ... we have been going in circles for the last week
getting it right, and I'm not sure there aren't more changes coming.
Also, the number of audits this year is supposed to be up by a factor of
3 or 4. They are hitting Head of Household, Earned Income Credit, and
Schedule C (small business) especially hard from what we hear.
Choosing a tax program because it is cheap, or because it works OK with
Linux, is your choice. Just be careful and be sure you know what you are
doing. I really don't want to see anyone here get audited!
