[Leaplist] what to restore

I have a full backup of a system (Centos 5.2), backed up with rsync, all 
the files.
If I want to restore that, but in another hardware, with other specs but 
same arch (i686), is it safe to copy over all the files? I don't know 
where the hardware configuration is, /etc/modprobe*, /etc/fstab, 
/etc/mdadm.conf and what more should I leave off? where can I find out 
which config files are hardware realated?

I make the backup with rsync -aS over ssh.
