Here is another idea. If you have a live Linux disk boot off of it. Then 
edit the file that controls the screen saver. As you know most 
configuration files are text files in Linux. I don't  know right off 
which ones to edit but google is your friend here. Also if you are 
running gnome their website should hopefully have documentation on how 
to do this.
