[Leaplist] Your FIRED

No firewall.
DSL fast access (the 785kb?type).
Just plugged in an ethernet connection.
Firefox most up to date version.
As stated earlier I have had no issue with bellsouth/att.
Friday I'll try to make a copy of the page that greeted me.

I agree with you if i'm not the only one something better than pitchfork
would be appropriate.
O

again, more detail.

what kind of connection was this? did you have some kind of firewall between
their equipment and your machine, or did you just plug their modem directly into
the linux machine? what browser were you using? what web page were you trying to
get to? and did you print or save a copy of the page you received?

more importantly, did they cancel your service? or did they simply refuse to
help you with a linux issue?

i ask because if at&t is forcibly canceling peoples' accounts for
running linux, then somebody needs to tell slashdot about it, which will
probably result in a number of other linux users changing their service away
from at&t whenever and wherever possible... which will hopefully put some
pressure on at&t to pull their heads out of their arses.

but other people are going to want to duplicate what you saw- and i suspect
that if at&t had suddenly decided to cancel all linux users, somebody else
would have reported it by now, and i'm not seeing anything on any of the
news sites (slashdot, digg, etc.) about anybody else having this issue. i'm
not sure exactly WHAT happened, but i seriously doubt at&t has suddenly
decided to cancel service for all linux users.

basically i'd like us to understand what the real issue is before we start
telling the entire world to storm at&t headquarters with torches and
pitchforks in the air.
