On these "lines" I have been an Bell south/Cingular/ATT customer for over 10
years, and they never did "support" Linux they had people that used it, and
did what they could, but as a 'company' they never 'officially' supported it
(in fact just the opposite, and they would say so, but then try to find
someone that MAY be able to help me)

so what exactly are you saying- they forcibly terminated your service  
because they found out you're running linux? (if so, they're going to  
have a lot of cancellations over the next few weeks/months, both  
because they'll be terminating regular users like you, AND because  
once slashdot finds out about it, other linux users will cancel  
service on purpose.)

or did you call them for support, they weren't able to help you with a  
linux machine, and you decided to cancel service because they can't  
provide support with your linux machine?

please explain exactly what you're saying, in detail.

also, what kind of service do (or did) you have with them? was this a  
dialup, a residential DSL connection, some kind of commercial service,  
a dedicated line, or what?

and how were you "informed"? were you on the phone with them and they  
refused to help you? did they call you to tell you they were  
cancelling your service? did you receive a letter or email from them?
