i keep thinking about how google wave and normal email will, or will not, interact. and the more i think about it, the more i realize that they truly are different tools, with entirely different use models. any direct interaction between the two will be very limited, just because they are such different animals to begin with.

for example, let's say that after you receive this message (the one i'm typing) you decide that you want to correct my (deliberate) mis-spelling of this word: linnux.

in wave, you would edit the blip and fix the mis-spelling. anybody who looks at it from that point on would see your corrected version, and unless they got curious enough to dig into the "playback" history and look at why that blip now has two authors, they would be none the wiser.

on a traditional email list (like this one), you would have to post another message which says something "hey john, didn't you really mean 'linux' instead of 'linnux'?" (or since this list has a bunch of geeks on it, you could probably just say "s/linnux/linux/" and we would know what you meant.)

it's kinda like using a basketball to drive a nail into the wall... it *might* be possible, but it's really meant for a totally different job.

so to answer your question, no- i don't think there's any way to "port" the existing list to wave. however by adding people to it, any wave within the server can serve the same function as a mailing list thread- it's a communal discussion by a bunch of people.
