I reboot, or logout of my GUI?
System - sabayon 3.5 fully patched
uname -a
Linux AMD64 2.6.25-sabayon-r1 #1 SMP Fri Jul 11 17:56:43 UTC 2008 i686
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux
the vs. of vmware i am running is the one installed via equo, the
package manager for sabayon. it is NOT the most current vs of vmware.
1.0.4 build-56528
that is the server build #.
issues.
works as sudo/root, but not as user, yes i have added my user to the
vmware group.
as long as i do not reboot, or log out i can get the VM to start. if i
log out or reboot, even though /etc/init.d/vmware start states it is
running, the VM will not power on and VMware gives me an error stating
it can not change the power status closing with error, but does not
provide an error, nor is there on in the console window i used to start
vmware with in the first place.
after i reinstall vmware-server, run the configuration tool again...
----------------------------
You need to run
* /opt/vmware/server/bin/vmware-config.pl
* to complete the install.
* For VMware Add-Ons just visit
* http://www.vmware.com/download/downloadaddons.html
* After configuring, run vmware-server to launch
* Also note that when you reboot you should run:
* /etc/init.d/vmware start
* before trying to run vmware. Or you could just add it to
* the default runlevel:
* rc-update add vmware default
----------------------------
i follow those directions straight out of the end of the install via
equo and vmware works like a charm until i reboot, or logout of the GUI.
yes i have added the rc-update add vmware default, yes it is running,
but no it will not power on any VM until i do all over again from scratch.
help.
