SyncKolab _will_ eat your Kolab 2 XML files if you try to use it with 
any OTHER Kolab 2 compatible product, as far as I have experienced.

SyncKolab tries to plug into Thunderbird at a level that it clearly 
wasn't effectively designed to allow, so it's kind of broken in strange 
and magical ways.  Plus, the interface itself for SyncKolab seems like a 
  hopeless hack.  It doesn't feel polished.  It eats data.  It seems to 
be maintained by a single person.
