I haven't seen an nVidia [Go] x800[M] in a notebook
under 17" yet. I assume it's due to size (let alone
battery suck).
HP only puts x400 models in its 14-15", and x600 models
in its 17", no x800 options.
Most others, including Asus, Dell, etc... x600 models
in their 15" and x800 models in their 17".
As on the desktop, the performance difference between
x600 and x800 models of the same series can be 3x over.
The memory bus is typically 2x wide, and units are often
2-3x as many.
Going from the Go 7600 series to Go 7800/7900 is already
4x the 7600GS or 3x 7600GT. But going up to the 9800M
is another 2x from the 7800/7900 of two generations back.
My HP Pavilion started out with 1GiB and 80GB SATA.
I upgraded to 2G/2x160, then 4G/2x250, then 4G/2x320.
I'll probably return it to a 2G/1x80 config and sell it,
especially since I added the 2nd HD bay (so anyone can
add another hard drive to it).
It's still got a video card that blows away anything
Intel offers in a notebook today, by about 10x.
