Has anyone tried piping tar into mkisofs into cdrecord? I've never tried it, 
but if it worked that would be a cool way to record without an intermediate 
file.

Or, perhaps could you spend $72.00 for an 8GB flash drive and put the 
intermediate file(s) there?
