[Leaplist] execution question under FC9 64-bit ....

.... I have an in-house CAD/Grid-generator which has fairly extensive
unit-testing coding built in. When exercised on my Q6600 box (FC7 64-bit
running at runlevel 3, 8 GB of DDR2-800 RAM), it takes about 3:45 min.
to complete & warms the CPU up about 6 deg.C, according to sensors (1)
output. I decided to try in on my Athlon64X2 box (this one), running FC9
64-bit at runlevel 5, 2.0 GHz dual core Athlon64 CPU & 2 GB of DDR2-800
RAM. I kicked it off from a shell prompt & tailed the output file to
monitor progress. Everything ran as expected, however, I noticed that
after about 30-45 seconds of execution, the little CPU-speed icon on the
lower tool-bar of my Gnome desktop dropped from 1.8-2 GHz (where it was
& should have been pegged) to 1 GHz & stayed there for the remainder of
execution (about 7:45 min. total). The testing coding is quite CPU & RAM
intensive, so this CPU-loafing was unexpected & undesirable. Sensors (1)
output indicated only about 2-3 deg C warmup in the 1st minute of
execution, then basically started cooling back down to background temps
(31 - 33 deg.C for this box). Is this refusal/inability to remain at
full speed a characteristic of the Athlon64X2 hardware, the BIOS, FC9-64
bit, or something else ? TIA ....
