In years past I did that with icecast.  The temporal distortion between rooms 
was both amusing and annoying.  If I could do it for real, I'd just wire each 
room accordingly and play from a master device, probably a receiver.  (Plus 
you don't need a computer of sorts in each room.)  On the cheap, what Mark 
suggests is likely a winner.
