I completely "gave up" on XFCE 4.4 coming from 4.2 I built Thunar to
run under 4.2, but that's about it.
I'm at the point that I'm getting very serious about building a new
window and file manager using GTK+ only, taking code from several other
products. The window manager is a radical departure from traditional
methods, using 4 types of context-based viewports (maximized/single app,
traditional desktop, overlay/toggle and session/framework) and a
4-corner, tab-based selection.
