Let me get a little more specific. I got sound out of anything NOT XINE
engine based with FC8. I got sound out of mplayer and the like with FC8.
I did this and that and that and this and reconfigured more asound.conf
files and read through more posts than I can count. NADA!!! never never
never did I get sound with xine or xine based programs.
When you pull up Pulseaudio manager with Ubuntu 8.04 it shows pulseaudio
server as running; however, in the audio preference I selected all ALSA
devices and had no problems. Also in alsa mixer I had to select the PCM and
optical output switch. All of this took about 5 mins in Ubuntu.
Anyways I had no luck with FC8 and loaded up Ubuntu. I'll give it a try
with FC9 and the sky's will part and singing from the heavens will fill my
essence with sweet sound ;) /crosses fingers.
