LVM is nice for people who may need more than seven usable partitions
on a single disk, or who may want/need to create, resize, and delete
partitions without having to reboot the machine in the process. it's
not something that i myself would recommend to a beginner, but
apparently the fedora guys disagree with me.

google is EVERYBODY'S friend... at least in terms of their search
engine. i have my concerns about the fact that they're becoming so
firmly entrenched in so many other facets of peoples' internet lives,
but that's a different conversation.
