[Leaplist] Blnking of Dispaly on UBUNTU 8.04

Folks,

Finally, I was successful in loading Ubuntu 8.04 on my
laptop and all seemed to be working well till I
noticed that width of display on the screen is wider
than the screen, thus hiding the top right hand corner
options that allow minimizing, expanding display and
terminating the display. 

I suspected it could be due to screen resolution but
it ain't so as far as I can see. Also that screen
seems to blink for a fraction second when drop down
menu on the left top corner is selected.

Please help..
