I did try net install twice. Install went flawlessly.
When it came to reboot from the hard drive, all seemed
to be moving fast smoothly but interactive desktop
never comes up. Lost in the La La Land..:(

I tried to load Fedora unsuccessfully. I have Debian
Etch running on my Tower smoothly and hate to learn
another flavor, another Distro.

It looks like HP makes real difficult to load Linux
and unfortunately that is the predominant affordable
brand offered by retailers and whole sellers.
