One option is to run dban on the hard drive with a single wipe.

Subject: [Leaplist] Install Fedora Core 8

Ladies and Gentlemen:L

I installed Fedora Core 8 on a brand new computer with a 500 GB hard
Drive. The Hard Drive was new and virginal and has never had any Op.
system installed on it previously.

I FAILED to successfully CUSTOM Partition the Hard Drive and Logical
Volume Extended Primary Partition 4.

So I gave up and chose the "Default" Installation which the Installation
Screen says is
           "Good for most users."

I have since learned a little bit about Custom Installation and went
back to try again.
That is, I booted up again with the DVD Fedora Core 8 Installation Disk
in its drive and the Installation program starts right up.

But each time I try to set up a new Partition, regardless of the size I
choose for the new Partition, the program tells me on the screen that
it can't create a Partition of the size I have chosen, even if I reduce
the size to 1 Megabyte!

So, I conclude that since I have installed the "Default Partitioning"
all of the Hard Drive's
space has been taken up by that choice.

My question is: How can I clean everything off the Hard Drive, now
apparently jam-packed full of the Default Installation?

I want to be able to start over and attempt the Custom Partitioning
Installation again.
Please tech me how to clean off the Hard Drive so I can attempt Custom
Partitioning again.

Thank you for any guidance.

William
