I went through this during my move to VA. I had a tower for a firewall, a tower
for a file server, towers for desktops and, of course, a garage full of tower
parts.

Now that I'm (almost... no really. any day now ;) settled: 1 "slim" desktop for
my daughters school, 2 NSLU2's for file server/media server/backups, WRTG's
for firewall and WDS and laptops for general use. At <$100 a node to replace
the towers with almost 0 ethernet cabling and system noise and everything
available anywhere in the house I'll never buy another tower.
