[Leaplist] Printing Challenge

Hiya Gang,

I have a nice new printer, an HP Color LaserJet 5550dn. It can handle up 
to 12x18" sheets and prints full bleed on 11x17". Very nice.

I want to use this printer to print 12x9" envelopes. I'd prefer to feed 
them by the wide edge (they're catalog envelopes), but am willing to 
compromise on this. The printer has special settings for "envelope" and 
the ability to specify custom page sizes. I have done so.

However, when trying to print to this from OpenOffice (2.3), it insists 
on printing things sideways, which isn't going to cut it.

* No change when I switch from "portrait" to "landscape".
* No change when I put the envelopes in sideways, as the printer detects 
this change and rotates the print job.
* No clue from the manuals for either the printer or OpenOffice.
