[Leaplist] Linux Industry Certs... good idea?

Hey folks, I was wondering if getting a Linux cert is a good idea. At the
place where I currently work they have offered me to pay for books and the
tests for whatever industry certification i would choose to obtain. I
currently have an A+ and Net+ cert, and these certifications have helped me
land on good jobs. However I know that the linux cert (at least the comptia
one) is pretty knew so idk if it would be a good cert to obtain or if
employers in the Unix industry actually see it has a relevant cert.
What my employer told me is that I should obtain a new cert every 6 moths
while I work with them, and all of that would be payed for them.
So can anyone give me their opinion on what certifications would be good if
I want to build a good Linux certification track? Or if all those certs are
just a bunch of BS and i should just focus on getting something else like a
security+ cert or a programming cert. Right now I am going through college
pursuing a CS degree, but they want me to get certifications at work anyway
so i can move up in their corporate ladder i guess :-)

Thanks,

Rafael Estrada
