Wait a minute......

    More than one machine
    More than one printer
    More than one printer cable

You are holding your mouth wrong !!!!

** Gotta be cockpit error

1. Test the printers on self test
2. Find someone, anyone with a working parallel printer and try all your
cables
    in that environment....(it's called "swaptronics")
3. Get hands-on help configuring CUPS
4. For goodness sakes borrow a working printer and present connected cable

Let us know.....

*FYI

I have run into a couple of idiot printers that required hptoolbox in linux
to be running and setup so as to reload the driver into the printer each
and everytime you restart the machine from a cold start...kinda "winnnnny"
 but it works..
