I have used both and tsclient is just a better front end for rdesktop.  
IIRC tsclient also has VNC and a few other GUI remote options as well.

windows XP Pro, win2k server, win2k3 server all use standard RDP so any 
RDP client will work.  The problem you might run into is if the 3rd 
party company you are connecting to is using true Citryx(sp?) then you 
will have to have appropriate client to connect first.

I have seen this a lot in insurance and financial companies.  the local 
company will use a Citryx client to connect to a RDP client behind the 
Citryx server.   really messed up way of doing things as all it does is 
add overhead to the connection, but meh that is what they do.

you first have to know if that is the situation.  if it is not and you 
are just tapping straight into one of the 3 MS OSs above then any RDP 
client will work just fine.
