[Leaplist] XP remote desktop

I am stuck with an XP system at work.. on my desk.. (not my company) and
am attempting to get rid of it.  Does anyone know how to resolve the
following:

I have two  "remote desktops" I access multiple times each day..  These
"Remote Desktops" are genuine XP desktops, I think they run windows
rdesktop.. but not sure..  These are offsite owned and operated by a
third company.  I must be able to attach to both several times during
the day..  Both are remote to me this is how I access this
application.   Anyone know of any Linux applications which will let me
attach to these boxes.. or alternately something which will run on a
Linux server which will let me attach? 

I also have an older program which I think may run under wine..  which
uses a mapped drive across the network..  This is secondary to the first
problem.. If I can resolve the first it the other should be simple.  

I have considered running something like VNC on a XP desktop and use
that machine as in intermediary..   but that will be a kludge.. Any
thoughts anyone.. ... Fred
