It means (removing the HTML ;) the same reason why we don't
explode a nuke when it hits the ground, but airburst. Effect
is negatively impacted the closer something is to the ground.
Sorry, I'm in a "silly" mood. ;)
A little AP is much easier to move than the whole PC box.
Also, as I eluded to, if you have a PCI WLAN card with a
piggy-tailed antennae (so you can locate it higher and with
better coverage), the latter likes to break off far more
easily.

I don't have a "favorite Linux distro." I use, develop
and support community efforts, often built around Linux.
