I completely agree. I've always tried to utilize the best formats for
anything I've written, having recently moved some of my own guides to
dokuwiki from docbook XML. I finally upgraded from ancient WP 1.5.x, too.
That said, I didn't feel like being the one to lecture anyone on usability.
