I forgot to say:

The Hard Drive on my older Dell computer was 100% used when I brought it
to InstallFest.

There was NO Hard Drive space available.

Johm S. discovered that and that is why we deleted a 14 GB BACK-UP which
permitted a cure.

So when the log-in called upon the computer to run the GUI, the
normal Greeter Application could not function, so the message,
"Greeter Application crashing"  flashed every 5 seconds on the otherwise
black screen.
