I believe what he is trying to do is to is to have the server run 
headless (if he has to have a keyboard plugged in, so be it) and remote 
in to do any work on the server with a GUI interface; similar to using 
terminal services or RDP to work on a microsoft server. Can't VNC be 
installed on the server and set to run automatically when the server is 
started? That way, he could fire up the server and once it is up, VNC 
would be listening for connections.
