[Leaplist] Newbie needs help

Thanks to you and others who have replied. I do go to the installfest
with my laptop, where I'm also trying to switch to linux. My fall back
has always been my desktop because this is the first time I've
encountered a real problem with it (other than the sound doesn't work,
but that's another story). I've tried to do a "recovery boot", but I end
up with the following: "root at admin-desktop: !# _(blinking cursor)". I
know it wants a response, but I don't know what. I've tried the root
password, the username and anything else I can come up with. The
response is "bash command unknown".
Anyone have any suggestions?
