Just a side note on why this is a good idea for the benefit of  
others:  If you locate your VoIP device in your network so that it  
gets a public IP address, it will prevent your media streams from  
having to be proxied 100% of the time, which -- theoretically -- will  
give you better  sound quality on your calls.  Now the provider may  
choose to still proxy your media streams and negate that, but it  
would not be absolutely required in that case.
