[Leaplist] IPCop Password

Thanks for the help. I went into single user mode, and was able to reset the root password. I then typed setup, and it gave me a command not found. I also tried passwd admin, but it gave me a unknown user error code. I rebooted the machine, remoted in via Firefox, and went to system > SSH access, and the Authentication Required dialog box appeared. I type in root and the new password, and it doesn't take it. The dialog box says "Enter username and password for "Restricted" at https://192.168.16.5:445. Being new at this, but inquisitive none-the-less, I rebooted IPCop, went into single user mode, and tried to set the password for Restricted. Obviously, it was a no go.

It might be easier to just reinstall, but I always prefer to try and fix the problem rather than taking the Microsoft way of just reinstalling. That's how I learn.

Also, is Single User mode an IPCop mode, or a Linux mode?

when grub starts hit an "a" then add "single" to the command line don't
for a space before the "single"
this will start the system in single user mode as root. then passwd and
add one..

then type setup to complete the install.. you will have the option to
set passwords.. Fred
